ANSWERS

Question 1: What is the difference between the Click Into Joy! method and the practice of religion, paths to enlightenment, and classical therapy?

Answer:

Even though the Click Into Joy! Personal Change Method cannot save your soul, bring you full enlightenment, or serve as a substitute for professional therapy, there is a relationship between its practice and the use or practice of religion, paths to enlightenment, and classical therapy. How so?

There are two ways to look at religion:

As a way to save one's soul from the tortures of hell, or

As a way to culture one's love towards God, the earth, and humanity.

The Click Into Joy! Personal Change Method cannot help with the first definition of religion, but can help with the second. Please see the pages in this website dedicated to heightening religious experience, and the ability to love.

Similarly, there are two ways to look at enlightenment;

As a mystical leap in awareness which allows one to directly perceive the infinity which pervades both the universe and ourselves; or

As the process of growth, the process of  change.

The Click Into Joy! Personal Change Method probably cannot help with the first definition, but can help with the second. It is designed to help us grow in a simple and effortless way, towards our own present-and-best state of joy. It is not designed for, or very effective in, triggering the kinds of "cosmic" experiences commonly attributed to the state of enlightenment.

And again similarly, there are two ways of looking at therapy:

As a critical, highly-necessary and professionally-applied intervention for the purpose of solving  pressing and sometimes life-threatening psychological problems; or

As anything which aids one's growth in a comforting and effective fashion.

Here again, the Click Into Joy! Personal Change Method probably cannot help with the first definition. It should not be grasped on as a substitute for truly-needed professional intervention, but it can be highly effective in teaching "typical" people to be comfortable and happy within their own lives. If you are under the care of a professional and would like to use the Click Into Joy! Method, please see the note on our how to purchase page.

Therefore, the Click Into Joy! Personal Change Method cannot bestow enlightenment or salvation, and it is not therapy in the professional sense. All it does is teach the habit which all truly happy and all truly 'present' individuals have, which is to be able to spontaneously let go of anxiety, to be able to relax by mere intention, and to be fresh and open-hearted to their surroundings.

Question 2: It sounds like the technique involves constantly trying to relax during activity. Doesn't this divide the mind, take its attention away from focusing on the activity at hand and make us less effective in accomplishing things?

Answer: The technique involves two phases, first practicing  (in order to get better at relaxing by mere intention, just as one the violin or a sport), and then applying it to various problems in our lives.

The technique is only practiced  when:

a) we are doing simple activity which doesn't use much of our mind anyway, and

b) we notice that we are somewhat uptight, off-center, or  just feel "out of it".

During this practice, we use a simple counting device both remind ourselves to intentionally relax, and to help ourselves  become more aware of the nuances of relaxation experiences.

The technique is applied when we become able to spontaneously use this growing ability to relax ~~or center ourselves, surrender to the Will of God, or get into the sports "zone", all depending upon our personal point of view~~in any particular situation which used to previously bother or upset us. For these applications, we do not need to use the counting device, nor will we always remember to, and we may not realize that it is because of the Click Into Joy! technique that we are able to be cool, calm, happy and alert during increasingly complicated situations.

Question 2: You make it sound like this technique is magic, and produces large changes without any effort, instantly. Isn't this something of a hype?

Answer: Growth takes place immediately with the technique assuming that you actually follow through with the instructions which improve your ability to be aware of your own ability to "chill out", to relax or center yourself, in a methodical manner.

.

In a world in which anxiety has become a habit, just the realization that we can relax by mere intention--even for a couple of seconds--is often news to us. So at first the Click Into Joy! technique can feel like quite a breath of fresh air.

Our growth , however, is most satisfying as we continue using the technique to develop our skill in letting go of anxiety by mere intention. The benefits of the individual relaxation events (each felt to be perhaps mild at first) are cumulative: the more we do in a particular day, the better we feel.

But most importantly, with time, comes the spontaneous ability to apply our new skills to increasingly complex and bothersome life situations. This is when we can really begin to appreciate not just the technique, but the growing beauty of life itself.

Question 3: Doesn't this thing produce an exaggerate from of egoism...isn't constantly relaxing within myself, centering myself, quite literally, Self-centered?

Answer: No.  In fact, half of the technique is involved ( as an explicit part of the instructions), in encouraging our increased connections to others. This is such an important topic that we devote a whole page to this answer.

Question 4: Is it like  prayer or meditation?

Answer: The Click Into Joy! Personal Change Method has nothing to do with prayer or meditation. It only deals with the simple intention to relax, to let go of anxiety during activity at appropriate times during the day. However, the method can benefit religious or meditation practice by reducing the "load' of stress which they have to deal with.

On another level, one is free to think of the "relaxation event" (essential to the Click Into Joy! method) as a "surrendering to the will of God" event. This is totally your choice. See the page on Christianity.
